Summary
Investment banker Jonathan Harker has earned a great deal of money by speculating in historic real estate. He has now settled in Budapest with his fiancée Mina Murray. At a charity ball organized by Dr. Seward, Jonathan surprises his fiancée with a proposal of marriage. The delighted Mina accepts, and right at that moment some friends invited by Jonathan enter the hall. But Jonathan has to leave the party because he has been recalled to see a client. His job is to purchase the grand estate of Carfax in Budapest for the Romanian Count Vladislav Tepes
